the harbinger of healing

Hospice Home Care began in February of 1992. When the time came to begin a newsletter, Harbinger was the name chosen for the first issue. Most people have identified the word "Harbinger" as a foreboding of evil or darkness or bad fortune but the word is not that. It refers to any future event or something on the horizon, either good or bad.

So, we are here to foretell the coming of good news of the spirit. Healing comes at various levels and not limited to the physical. Our hopes are to bring a touch of cheer and hope for all who read our newsletter. The Harbinger of Healing is another way Hospice Home Care reaches out to our patients, their families and friends, and the community.

Yes, there is healing at the end of life - both for patients and for those they leave behind. We are beings of both body and spirit, and just as it is HHC's mission to add life to days, when days can no longer be added to life, our Harbinger of Healing announces the good news that spirits can be healed.

The Harbinger of Healing contains up-close and personal introductions to members of our staff, practical information for patients, caregivers and the bereaved, and words of wisdom to inspire and encourage.

We automatically send a copy of our newsletter to each of the patient's families who we have served in hospice care. We also send a copy to donors and those who send gifts as memorials. We also send the newsletter to friends of and volunteers of Hospice Home Care.
